News from the PCC

Dear friends,

Welcome to another news update from Christ Church.

News from the PCC

The PCC met last Saturday and this time we asked Peter Smithson to share his thoughts on the meeting…

"This week the PCC met on Saturday morning to review the new vision document. We met in the morning so that we can give more time to each subject. A good turnout of members, meeting in The Spire coffee shop ensured lively interaction and friendly discussion. We always start with prayer and Bible reflection as we are reliant on God’s leading.

Jill Garfitt led some group discussions to tease out what the vision meant and how it can be used to describe our activity. It was great for generating ideas and members felt positive as they applied the three key words, Connect, Grow and Influence to areas of church life. We are excited to see these put to more use across the church.

We then considered a paper by Tim Keller discussing how church size determines the appropriate leadership and committee structure – was ours the right mix to meet all the needs of a large church? Finally, we prayed for God to lead the right people to apply for specific posts on the PCC which now need to be filled. God is faithful as we wait on Him."

Meanwhile in other news…

Please sign up at the InfoHub or email the office to be added to the list. They cost £3.99 each.

Our third annual Clifton Christmas Market takes place on Saturday 25thNovember from 10am to 4pm.  If you are free to help at this amazing event, please sign up at www.ccweb.org.uk/Christmasmarkethelp.

It’s not too late to give to last week’s Gift Day in response to our church vision.  This is particularly for those who God is prompting to give at this time, especially new members who have not yet begun to give regularly to the work of Christ Church; and those who may only be with us for a limited time.  Please use the giving envelopes available on at church or visit www.ccweb.org.uk/donate to give online.

Finally, a date for your diary

On Saturday 20th January, we will be hosting “Walking on Water”, a New Wine “taster day”, with Paul Harcourt, NW’s national director as the main speaker.  The day is a great opportunity to experience New Wine without the rain and mud!  You need to book tickets through the New Wine website – more details here.
