News from the PCC

The PCC met on Monday night and this month we asked PCC member David Troughton to share his reflections…

“We met on Monday for PCC and the first thing we all did was to warmly thank Rosemarie Hall as she stood down as PCC Secretary, a role which she has faithfully and loyally conducted with professionalism over many years. Our main agenda item was around the church family vision that guides our future direction. It was presented by Paul and Mark who summarised the work that had been completed by a small team prayerfully discerning further refinements over the summer. We also spent time discussing some contemporary theological issues. Other items included a discussion about our Diocesan Parish Share and 'Standing Items' such as our regular Safeguarding Report. What struck me throughout the meeting was the heart, wisdom, passion and diversity of talent that people around the PCC bring; and that we are not a Corporate entity, we are a church, part of the Body, the family of Christ - which means we do things differently!”

Hospitality Sunday

There are lots of different way that we express being part of the church family. One way is to spend time with other members of the church family.  Hopefully many of you will have saved 5th November in your diary for Hospitality Sunday. And it's not too early to begin to invite people from church to your home on that day. Look for those you don’t know so well and let's get to know one another better. The bible says.... “They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people.  And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved”.  Acts 2:46b

Cooks Wanted

You can also help by serving another part of the family, and our Wednesday Community Centre is looking for people who love cooking and serving the senior members of our church and community with a two course lunch.  Helping with this ministry involves being on the rota once  a month and planning / shopping for a hot meal and pudding. If this is you, then please get in touch.

Looking for the next Bishop

Finally, the wider church is looking for your views on the next Bishop of Bristol.  You can participate by completing an online questionnaire or attending an open meeting in the Diocese.  See details in the flier attached…
